There are many paths to healthy living

Speak with our Chiropractor, Dr. Jen

We use a number of highly-effective chiropractic techniques and adjusting approaches to help improve spinal biomechanics and reduce nervous system interference. The approach we use is based on our judgment and years of experience.

The primary chiropractic techniques we use for adjustments include:

Gonstead Technique - Chiropractor in Phoenix, Arizona

1 Gonstead Technique

The Gonstead Technique is Dr Jen’s preferred method of treatment. It is also known as one of the safest methods of evaluating and caring for your spine. It is a very specific treatment that only involves the spinal bones that are stuck and pinching/irritating nerves. If it’s not causing problems, we will leave it alone.

After studying your health history, we will do a complete examination to check for inflammation of your joints and nerves, which include findings of pain, muscle spasm heat, swelling and restriction in movement.

Once we has a complete understanding of what’s causing your condition, she will give you a gentle but effective adjustment. Sometimes you’ll hear a slight “popping” sound but it’s okay if you don’t. Either way, your spinal bones are moving away from painful nerves so they can begin the healing process.

2 Activator Methods ®

Some patients do not want to hear or feel a “popping” sound but really need their spine aligned. We are specially trained in one of the most popular “low force” chiropractic techniques in the world – the Activator Instrument. We begin by analyzing how well your spine moves with various joint tests. Once the restricted bones are assessed, we utilize the Activator to adjust the problem areas.

Because the Activator is much faster than adjustments delivered by hand, your body won’t tighten to resist, making adjustments very comfortable and effective. It’s also helpful for adjusting elbows, wrists, knees and other joints of the body.

Patients find great relief from pain and tightness from the Activator Technique because it is so gentle and yet, so effective!

3 Decompression Therapy

Spinal decompression utilizes a motorized table to gently alleviate back pain, similar to a computerized stretch. Decompression therapy works by gently stretching your spine, creating a negative pressure in your spinal discs, similar to a “vacuum” effect. This chiropractic technique takes pressure off nerves, restores nutrients to your discs, and changes the position of your spine.

After receiving decompression therapy, any bulging/herniated discs that you might have may begin to retract, which can take pressure off the nerves in your spine and alleviate pain. If you suffer from Sciatica Pain in the buttocks and legs, decompression is very helpful at eliminating the pinched nerve. Additionally, this type of therapy can help your spinal disks heal by promoting movement of water, oxygen, and nutrient-rich fluids through your spine.

Call us and schedule an appointment to see if decompression therapy is the best course of treatment for your condition. Our rates are very competitive and we offer discounted package rates for your convenience.

Additional Therapies

Thompson Technique

The Thompson Technique, developed by Dr. J. Clay Thompson, has evolved into a system of analysis and a way of adjusting the full spine. The combination produces precise adjustments and high levels of patient comfort.

Diversified Technique

At Active Lifestyle Chiropractic, we use an adjusting style commonly referred to as “Diversified.” A special hand arrangement called a “pisiform contact” is used to deliver a specific thrust at the right place and the right time.
