Chiropractic Care with Dr. Jen Winton

What to expect at the chiropractor when visiting Active Lifestyle Clinic: You will be greeted by our welcoming staff and you’ll immediately feel at home the moment you walk in the door.

If you’ve ever gone to a social event where you didn’t know anyone, you know how uncomfortable that can make you feel. Our goal is to eliminate every shred of apprehension and make you feel at home.

Since chiropractic care involves a series of visits, with each visit building on the ones before, it’s important that our relationship can go the distance. We’ve found that one of the best ways to have successful patient relationships is to explain everything in advance. No surprises!

The more you understand who we are, what we do and why we do it, the better results you’ll enjoy. It’s as simple as that.

So, check us out here. Poke around. Get to know us. Then, contact us to make an appointment so we can get to know you.

Chiropractic Consultation

Help is on its way! Your first visit will allow us to gather as much relevant information about you as we can in order to determine how we can best serve you. This visit will take approximately 40 minutes, so please allow enough time.

We also ask that you dress comfortably for the examination, please do not wear short skirts or tight clothing. If you have them, please bring a copy of any past CTs, MRIs, x-rays or other relevant test results and reports.

To begin our initial visit, you’ll start by filling out some necessary paperwork. These initial forms provide us with essential information about you, your condition, and your health history.

Next, following the paperwork, you will meet Dr. Winton, to discuss the relevant details of your health. In order for us to gather a complete picture we may ask questions regarding previous injuries, ergonomics, hobbies and activities, medication usage, quality of sleep, diet, repetitive stressors, etc.

If we feel that your problem is outside of our expertise we will let you know. Following our consultation, we will then begin our exam.

Chiropractic Examination

During your examination, Dr. Winton will watch for restriction in movement, pain, muscle spasm, heat and swelling. If these issues exist, she can locate which vertebra are involved and where the nerves are being pinched. These areas are called “subluxations.”

Keep in mind that some of the tests may reproduce your symptoms and some may also provide relief. We will also ask questions and use procedures to rule out serious disease and pathologies that may need to be treated elsewhere.

X-rays are typically needed to assess and diagnose certain conditions. If Dr. Winton feels they are warranted in your case, we we will explain where to get them done in the quickest way possible. They are usually covered by health insurance or cash discounts are available.

Review Tests and Treatment

What to Expect on Your Second Visit to Our Ahwatukee Chiropractic Office

Review Tests and Treatment

Your Second Visit to Our Ahwatukee Practice

On your second visit, you will find out exactly what is causing your problems. This appointment should take approximately 20 minutes.

To begin, Dr. Winton will give you a detailed explanation of your x-ray and test results. She will review your films and discuss what is normal and what isn’t. She will explain, in detail, what your tests indicated on the first visit and if she can help.

If you are accepted as a chiropractic patient, Dr. Winton will perform what is called a “test adjustment.” This is your first adjustment to see if she can unlock your subluxations or stuck vertebra pinching your nerves. If so, she will know she can help you.

You will be given home instructions for ice and proper sleep positions. These are very important instructions to assist you in the healing process..

Diagnosis, Treatment & Plan

What to Expect on Your Third Visit to Our Chiropractic Clinic

Diagnosis, Treatment & Plan

Your Third Visit to Our Ahwatukee Practice

The third visit will take approximately 30 minutes. Dr. Winton will inquire about your progress since your test adjustment. Typically, patients notice relief but may have a little soreness. This is normal because you are using muscles and nerves you have not used in a long time.

You will receive a second adjustment and Dr. Winton will sit down with you and give you a detailed report. This report will higlight:

  • Your problem(s)
  • Your x-ray analysis and other relevant test results
  • Reasons for your condition
  • Treatment recommendations-how long it will take to get better and what type oftreatments may be involved (chiropractic, massage, physio-therapy)

Our Office Manager will go over any insurance benefits, if you have them. She already has verified all your benefits beforehand and will give you a detailed description of what is and isn’t covered.

If you don’t have health insurance coverage, no worries! We offer exceptionally low prices so you can afford to have the care that you need.

We will go over all details with you and you can make an informed choice.
